The options of the menu bar vary from application to application because different application serves different purposes hence the menu options also changes.

Ex: Ms.Word is having a Design menu. The design menu shows options for different themes, colors, fonts, etc which is required for a word application whereas Ms.Excel does not contain a design menu instead it contains some different menus that serve the functionality of an Excel application such as Formulas. The formulas menu shows options for AutoSum, Math and Trigger, Date and Time, etc.

But there will be a few menus that will be common in all the applications like the below ones. A few common operations of the menu bar are:

File menu

  • New – Create a new file
  • Open – Open an existing file
  • Save – Save a new file

Edit menu

  • Cut – Cut content within the open file
  • Copy – Copy content within the open file
  • Paste – Paste content within the open file
